has developed a varied programme of exhibitions, projects and activities
that has earned it a sound national reputation. Emphasis is placed
on engaging new audiences through a range of courses and workshops.
In addition to a high quality changing

The brief
On offer was the use of a studio at
ArtSway for approx. 2 months, for a visual artist working in any
medium. Applicants were asked to put forward a proposal for how
they would use the time, space and budget available, and to demonstrate
how it develop both their artistic practice and their career.
There was no theme, but the selectors
were looking for a thoughtful attitude combined with innovative
work of good quality, based on sound ideas and a creative approach.
Also expected was an interest in sharing creative skills and working
with others.
Alexis Stevens was selected from a very strong field. Alexis graduated
from Falmouth College of Arts in 2004, and wants to extend her painting
practice to connect with architectural space.
She completed her residency by installing
her new work in the main gallery at ArtSway. For images of this
exhibition, see exhibition
